An exciting weekend is coming up in March 2014. Our very own Malaysian Susanne Isa will come between 7 -14 march 2014 to Malaysia. Her lecture event is entitled “this is not a dinosaur”mill be held on even date of event : 11 March 2014. Susanne plans to visit Kuala Lumpur on her way to Singapore and her last time in Kuala Lumpur, I was informed, was way back in 1998. I had during my tenure in london worked with Susanne (and her partner Simon Herron) back in their famous store street office at Imagination Building, designed by Simon’s famous father the late Ron Herron in 1990. Susanne Isa trained at the Architectural Association London, graduating in 1992 with Dip Honours. Currently Year 1 Design Co-ordinator, and senior admissions tutor at the University of Greenwich and postgraduate design studio tutor to Diploma Unit 16 with Simon Herron and Nick Szcepaniack,. Previously a Senior Lecturer at University of Westminster and the Bartlett has also taught international studios at Sci-Arc Los Angeles and Lund Sweden. Public lectures include, SciArc Los Angeles , Pecha-Kucha – Future Cities programme at the Barbican Centre London , The Elephant Vanishes, LCC Conference, Keynote speaker 2005, “The museum of Jurassic Technology’, Ark-itectures: Retrieving seventeenth century,spaces of display, Parabola Arts Trust & Museum of Garden History, London, 2006, Symposium ‘Armchair Traveler’, at ‘Architecture & Travel: Perception, Attraction, and Mobility UCL 2009. Has worked for Nickolas Grimshaw Architects, before joining Ron Herron Associates, currently part of the collaborative project E.R.I.C. Built works include a collaboration with AHMM & Studio Myerscough to produce, the Millennium products touring exhibition for the British Council and display units for the Millennium Dome Learning Zone . Competitions include Urban Sets [Shinkenchiku with Ron & Andrew Herron 1981]; ROBO House [Shinkenchiku “A style for the year 2001” Herron ass 1985]; Hamburg Docks [RHA, Cook & Hawley 1987] – 2nd prize; Olympic ski-jump Innsbruck competition [with Ian Liddel of Buro Happold 1992]. Her Exhibitions and instillations include, Depford X Solo exhibition at the Gallop Gallery 2005; Exhibited in a group photographic exhibition 2007,“How we are now” at Tate Britain; Airplot, for Green Peace Exhibition at Bargehouse, Oxo Tower [E.R.I.C 2010]; House for Mr & Mrs Sue Real, Barbican Centre London, [E.R.I.C. 2010], Co curator to the exhibition IMAGINE: Fictional Architecture And The Liberation of Ideas, Bahrain, Bin Matar House 2013. Principle Registrar, conservation and loan Ron Herron Archive. Susanne is also an artist, to me an imaginary architect, equally she’s an avid graphic designer and foremost a steadfast studio master and impressive design educator, all rolled into one. Currently Susanne teaches unit 16 at the Greenwich university together with husband and partner Simon Herron and has ever since her Bartlett days, caused quite a stir and left an indelible mark in many a students’ career, this has now spanned over more than 20 years.
